Morning, Lafayette.

Last Tuesday, I ran a poll to see who would be interested in a dating event. The details are below.

  • A projector and a mic.

  • 12–16 singles (could be less), each paired with a friend

  • The friend gets 2–3 minutes on stage with a PowerPoint about why their single buddy is the catch of the century (kind of like a roast that meets wedding toast)

  • Quick Q&A after each pitch, ending with a contact slide

  • After all the pitches, the room turns into an open mixer

  • Tickets for pitcher/pitchee duos, plus general admission for anyone who wants to watch the show and meet people who've clearly been vouched for

The feedback was really positive, so this week I want to see what age range we should try first.

Which age group should we do for the first event?

Tree Lafayette

Tree Lafayette is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has planted more than 4,900 trees across the Greater Lafayette community since 1993. Operating as the Lafayette Tree Fund, Inc., the organization plants and maintains trees primarily on public property and along city streets, while also educating residents about tree care and the benefits of a healthy urban canopy. They hit a milestone this Earth Day, planting their 5,000th tree at the McAllister Recreation Center.

Their mission is simple: a sustainable urban forest that delivers real benefits to the community.

How to get involved: Tree Lafayette needs volunteers to help plant trees, maintain them once they're in the ground, and serve on committees or the Board. You can also support their work through donations or sponsorships.

The city of West Lafayette wasn't always called West Lafayette. Before 1888, the community across the river from Lafayette went by a completely different name which was taken from a Philadelphia family that platted the original settlement in 1860.

What was West Lafayette's Original Name?

Come back Friday and see how you did🤝

Meet Leo

This goofy guy is full of puppy energy and ready to zoom his way right into your heart. Leo is still learning the ropes and will need a patient, dedicated human who understands his high energy and is ready to help guide him. He's eager to learn and already knows how to sit and shake, a great start on his training journey!

Leo would thrive with someone who can give him plenty of exercise, structure, and continued training to help him become the best companion he can be. With the right person by his side, there's no doubt he'll grow into an amazing, loyal best friend.

Leo is 2 years old and came in on January 30th, 2026.

The Victorian

Looking for a unique home? This 1898 Victorian on Ninth Street Hill fits the bill. It’s got three floors, 3,284 square feet, 4 bedrooms, and 3.5 baths.

The first two floors have a lot of character: tin ceilings, antique built-ins, and hardwood floors that surely have seen a lot of traffic. The third floor adds its own value. Fifteen-foot ceilings, a second kitchen, and a soaking tub. I would probably never leave the third floor if this were mine.

The place has a nice yard, a heated garage, and downtown Lafayette is a walk away (Walk Score: 79)
