Happy Tuesday, Lafayette!

This rainy weather is quite the bummer, isn’t it? I suppose the flowers could use it.

Let’s get into it:

  • Nonprofit to check out

  • Local canal trivia

  • A doggo looking for a home

  • The stucco house

  • A short list of events this week

But first, this has come up in conversations with some of you. I’m curious how all of you feel.

Here’s what I’m thinking:

  • A downtown venue. A projector and a mic.

  • 12–16 singles, each paired with a friend

  • The friend gets 2–3 minutes on stage with a PowerPoint about why their single buddy is the catch of the century (kind of like a roast that meets wedding toast)

  • Quick Q&A after each pitch, ending with a contact slide

  • After all the pitches, the room turns into an open mixer

  • Tickets for pitcher/pitchee duos, plus general admission for anyone who wants to watch the show and meet people who've clearly been vouched for

If you think this is a good idea and want to participate, you can reply to this email with an age range suggestion.

Meals on Wheels Greater Lafayette

Meals on Wheels Greater Lafayette delivers fresh, low-sodium meals to anyone in Tippecanoe County who has trouble accessing nutritious food. Most of their consumers are seniors, but the program has no eligibility restrictions.

The meals are prepared daily by Franciscan Health and consumers pick from two entrees and three sides, for twelve possible combinations a day, and the four-week menu rotates twice a year. The program accommodates diabetic, low-sodium, and many allergy-related diets.

Every delivery includes a friendly visit and safety check. They also run AniMeals, a partnership with VCA Animal Hospital that provides pet food and discounted vet care to consumers' pets.

To set up meals, volunteer, or donate, call 765-429-MEAL or visit mowlafayette.org.

When the Wabash & Erie Canal celebrated its grand opening on July 4, 1843, Lafayette was its southern terminus and the head of steamboat navigation on the Wabash.

Come back Friday and see how you did🤝

Meet Elisa

Elisa is a 1-year-old sweetheart who’s been with HS4GL since November 16th, 2025. She’s the perfect mix of cuddly and playful. When she first arrived, Elisa was a bit shy and unsure, but she has come so far and truly blossomed out of her shell.

She loves sharing her toys with her people and is always down for a game of fetch. Elisa is also a big treat girl, snacks are definitely the way to her heart! Whether she’s playing, showing off her toys, or soaking up affection, Elisa is ready to be someone’s best friend.

Elisa is looking for someone who can look past how she may act in her cage and give her the chance to open up, because once she does, her goofy, loving personality really shines. She is also dog-friendly, but we would not recommend her going to a home with cats.

The House on Kossuth

Not very often we get to see a cool stucco house around here. This place is pretty unique from the outside in. Aaaand, the price recently dropped by $35,000.

At a whopping 4,566 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, you have so much room for activities. Picture a grand piano in the living room and you entertaining a room full of guests. Or imagine the pizza parties you could host out of that kitchen. Just some thoughts.

Outside you get a sick, covered front porch with a fire place. If this were mine, I would never leave this spot. Plus, the garage could be a workshop if that’s what you’re into.
