Lafayette Moving Totes

Moving with cardboard boxes can be a pain. They collapse halfway up the stairs, tear at the corners, and then sit in your garage for six months after you've unpacked.
Lafayette Moving Totes rents sturdy, stackable plastic totes that they deliver to your door and pick up after you’ve moved. No tape, no late-night box runs to Lowes, no cardboard graveyard in the garage.
For Purdue students, Lafayette Moving Totes will drop totes at your apartment or dorm before move-out and haul them away once you're settled somewhere new. Realtors looking for a closing gift can hand their clients a tote rental that makes move-in dramatically less painful. And for locals moving across town, it means one trip to pack, one trip to unpack, and nothing left over.

TAP for TAF Craft Beer Festival
Drink beer. Support the arts.
That's the pitch for Tap for TAF, and it's hard to argue with. Saturday, April 18, from 2 pm to 6 pm, on top of the Tippecanoe County Parking Garage at 200 South St.
Your ticket gets you a tasting glass and all the samples you can responsibly handle from Indiana's finest brewers and cideries. You’ll get live music, local eats, and nonalcoholic options for those who want them. Plus, you’ll see one of the better views of downtown Lafayette you can find.
Proceeds benefit The Arts Federation and its mission to grow the arts across 14 Indiana counties.
General admission is $40. Designated drivers get in for $10 and drink free water and soda all afternoon.

The Last Bridge Standing
The John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge is the third Main Street bridge to cross the Wabash at this spot. A wooden covered bridge was put up in 1863 and in 1889, Engineer Wallace Marshall replaced it with a three-span iron bridge.
The iron bridge did not last, though. On March 26, 1913, the Wabash crested just shy of 33 feet. The Main Street span of the bridge fell. During this time, a cable ferry moved people across the river until the cities could rebuild.
Soon after, Wallace Marshall came back to design the replacement with the help of Purdue civil engineering professor W.K. Hatt. Hatt chaired the board of superintending engineers. A new reinforced-concrete arch opened in November 1914 and carried Main Street traffic for the next 82 years.
In 1996, the Lafayette Railroad Relocation project rerouted cars to new bridges and gave the old span to pedestrians. The city renamed it on July 12, 1997, for Congressman John T. Myers, whose long run on the House Appropriations Committee helped move the project forward.

Meyers Pedestrian Bridge Headed for a Facelift
The John T. Myers pedestrian bridge is getting cleaned up, painted underneath, and patched where it needs it. The Board of Public Works and Safety approved advertising for bids Tuesday, with bid opening set for May 12.
City Engineer Jeremy Grenard said the project will also replace some deck pavers and bridge joints. The bridge will stay open for individual trail users during construction, but closed for events.
The work is expected to take five to six months, with final completion due by June 2027. Lafayette and West Lafayette are splitting the cost 50-50, which is how the bridge has been maintained since it was converted from vehicle to pedestrian use in the mid-1990s.
