One Thing to Leave the House For

Lafayette Baking Club

Want to read about one of the coolest new things going on in Lafayette? You’re in the right place.

Last summer, Elise Whitley started the Lafayette Baking Club as a hobby project and a way to get people together. And it has done just that. The club has met a few times now (every other month) and typically has 20+ people show up with baked goods.

Each meeting, there is a theme for bakers to follow. It could be nostalgic, summer treats, or breakfast/brunch like this Saturday’s meeting is. This is for everyone too. All ages, demographics, and skill levels. All you have to do is bake a batch of baked goods (12-16 servings) that follows the theme, bring them to the meeting, and you’re in.

One Local Business to Try

Trackside Camera Supply

Trackside Camera Supply opened in October of 2025, but its ribbon cutting ceremony is this week. I also happened to spend some time in the shop last week getting to know the owner and staff. It was a lot fun hearing the story behind Trackside and the vision for the business. It is very obvious that everyone there cares about the community as well as photography.

This place is for photographers of all levels. Those who want to get into the game, hobbyists, students, or even professionals. I was impressed by the staff’s knowledge and how much they really cared about the craft, and I think you will be too.

Trackside sells new and used camera gear, film, and accessories, but in all reality it’s much more than that. It acts as a reliable place for people to learn, ask questions, and connect to their craft.
