In Friday’s Edition

Happy Friday, Lafayette!

Well, I hope you’re not like me. I caught the bug that is going around and I feel pretty awful. No fun.

But, there is a lot of fun things going on around town! All of that can be found in this email. Before we get into that, I have an idea for this community.

I sent out a poll a few days back about Lafayette Lookout hosting an event/get together and asked if anyone would be interested. The feedback was really positive! So here is what I am thinking:

A dinner club. And here is how I would do it. Anyone that wants to take part will take a short personality quiz to get matched. You pick a date that works for you and pay to book a seat (I will discuss price in the future, but I am thinking $12-$15 to book). Groups will be assembled in tables of 6 using the personality quiz that I mentioned above. I will have things set up so that a restaurant will be booked for you, reminders will be sent to you, and really any details you can think of will be taken care of. You’ll even be provided with ice breaker questions to start at dinner. This is an opportunity to get to know others in the community and make some new friends!

Now, is this something you'd be interested in?

If you select yes, please reply to this email saying "I'm in!"

If you said yes to the poll, please reply to this email letting me know that. This will help with future planning. And, if everyone says no then we’ll squash the idea!

Great lunch spot! I grab lunch with a friend here every other month and it never disappoints. Reasonably priced as well.

Did You Know?

Long before airplanes, Lafayette played a role in U.S. aviation history. In 1859, a balloon launched from downtown Lafayette carrying official U.S. mail which made it the first recognized airmail flight in the country. Its mission was to fly from Lafayette to New York.

But, the weather turned poor which turned the ballon in the wrong direction! Instead of landing in New York, it landed in Crawfordsville (yes, that one). The mail made it to its destination via train. Even still, a first for the city!

🚨If you have an event, restaurant, or community update you’d like featured in a future edition, please reply to this email and let me know. Lafayette people are doing cool things all across town and some of it is not getting attention. Let’s make that happen!🚨

The newsletter will be getting touched up in the weeks to come. So don’t be surprised if you see new colors and maybe even a new logo! Nothing in the newsletter will change, just the look.

Also, I plan to include an 🦉 in every newsletter subject line so you can easily tell when the Lafayette Lookout has hit your inbox.

Have an awesome weekend and stay healthy!
