Together With

Happy Wednesday, Lafayette!
You might have noticed that you did not get an email from me last Friday or this Tuesday like normal (if you didn’t notice, carry on). That is because I (Blake) am moving everything to one send per week on Wednesdays.
You can still expect the same content, just sent once instead of twice a week. The reasons for this are 1) time and 2) quality. I have a day job which means that this project, Lafayette Lookout, is worked on during my spare time. It’s a passion project that I really enjoy and hope you do too.
That being said, I want to deliver as much value as possible per email sent and really focus on quality. My hope is that I am able to accomplish that with one send per week.
If you read up to this point, thank you! And if you have been reading Lafayette Lookout for any time, thank you!

Custom Magnets

My friends at Custom Magnets are doing something really cool. Like the name suggests, they’re making custom magnets for family memories, businesses, clubs, and teams. They offer 2 inch x 2 inch magnet sets (3 packs, 5 packs, 9 packs, and even 50 packs) so they don’t take up a ton of room on the fridge if you don’t want them to.
These magnets are great gifts for friends and loved ones, keepsakes full of memories, and great pieces for advertising your business. The business is local to the region and is really easy to work with.
They also will show up to your events if you think that’s cool (weddings, birthdays, grad parties, you name it). You can contact them on their website for that.
Lafayette Lookout readers get 10% off all orders if you use code: MAGNET10 at checkout.

Stars & Stripes Celebration
Spend your evening at Riehle Plaza for The Fourth of July. You’ve got a full slate of music, food, and fireworks ahead of you.
Food trucks and vendors open at 5 pm. And the music starts at 6 pm with the Lafayette Jeff Jazz Combo and Alumni Band, followed by Clave Caribe Latin Music Band at 7 pm and the Lafayette Citizens Band and Freedom Singers at 8 pm.
The Tippecanoe Ancient Fife and Drum Corps take over at 9 pm, the Citizens Band and Freedom Singers return at 9:15 pm, and the fireworks go up over the Wabash at 10 pm.
Make sure to bring a lawn chair. Q106.7 will broadcast the music timed to the fireworks.

Laura Anne Fry led Purdue's art department for roughly a quarter century and founded the organization that grew into the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette. But before she came to Purdue, she earned a U.S. patent for an invention that's now standard equipment in ceramics studios everywhere.
What did she patent?
Now you don’t have to wait to see if your answer is correct. But you should come back next Wednesday to read the full story on Laura Ann Fry😎

When I hear of stories of cool stuff locals are doing, I want to try to highlight them as much as I can. And when I heard about this project pictured above, I knew I had to share it here.
Pierce Cemetery is a pioneer cemetery in Indiana and has a lot of local history that was abandoned for a long time behind Harrison High School. Girl Scout Lauren is doing her Gold Award Project in the cemetery cleaning headstones, but she needs your help with cleaning!
If you have any interest in donating your time to help Lauren, you can sign up to volunteer in the link below. To see what all goes into this (check out the before and after picture above), you can check out her Facebook page or Instagram.
