United Way of Greater Lafayette

For over 100 years, United Way of Greater Lafayette has partnered with local nonprofits, businesses, community leaders, donors, and volunteers to tackle challenges too big for any one person or organization to solve alone. Its work spans local resilience, health, youth opportunity, and financial security, with programs including the Kindergarten Countdown Camp, Read to Succeed, and free tax help through VITA. The mission, in their words is this: mobilizing the community to action so all can thrive.

That brings us to Friday, July 31st when United Way's LEC Golf Outing returns for its sixth year at Battle Ground Golf Club.

Registration opens at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. It's a morning of friendly competition and a chance to connect with friends and colleagues out on the course. Teams can register by card or by cash/check, and sponsorship spots are open for businesses wanting recognition in front of community leaders.

There is a hole in one grand prize on hole 13. It's a trip for two to the Ritz-Carlton at Kapalua Hawaii. This is an 8 day/7 night trip that includes roundtrip airfare for two as well as 4 rounds of golf per person. Hey, the odds of this happening aren’t zero😎

Sixth & South

MatchBOX throws its annual block party this summer at the corner of Sixth and South downtown. It's a party, but also a fundraiser.

What should you expect? For one, music. DJ Karabella will open things up, and then The Silkies will take over with rock, pop, funk, and soul. In between, there's plenty to do. Watch The Wandering Press screen print live. Take a lap in SimplyRace's racing simulator. Work the puzzle at Mission: Breakout. Sit for a watercolor portrait by Jennifer Dihel, or pour your own candle with Flora Candle Company.

Your ticket covers food and non-alcoholic drinks from a lineup of independent local vendors.

There's also a silent auction full of local art, dining experiences, memberships, classes, spa packages, and more. Every bid supports MatchBOX's work backing local entrepreneurs, from small businesses to first-generation founders and pre-revenue startups.
