The Farm at Prophetstown hosts Family Day this Saturday, June 6, from 11 am to 3 pm.

There will be three live music sets, farm demonstrations, and animals to visit. You’ll have games and activities for the kids. There will also be food and refreshments.

Admission is free with park admission. It’s a full day of farm life without any of the chores!

Before she vanished over the Pacific, did you know that Amelia Earhart drew a paycheck from Purdue (the answer to Tuesday’s trivia question)?

Purdue President Edward C. Elliott recruited her in 1935 because he was looking for someone to counsel the university's women on careers. Earhart was the woman for the job, and took the post serving through 1937. Her title was a long one: counselor in careers for women and technical adviser in aeronautics. Each term, she would spend a few weeks on campus. In that time span, she was paid $2,000 a year.

Purdue's reach went further than advice. In April 1936, the Purdue Research Foundation announced the Amelia Earhart Fund for Aeronautical Research. Trustee David Ross gave a large sum $50,000. While donors, including J.K. Lilly and Vincent Bendix, added roughly $30,000 more in cash and equipment. About $40,000 of that fund bought and outfitted her Lockheed Electra 10E, the "flying laboratory" which was used in her attempt to fly around the globe.

Earhart planned to donate the plane back to Purdue after her around-the-world flight. She left Lae, New Guinea, on July 2, 1937, with navigator Fred Noonan. But, they never reached their destination on Howland Island.

Purdue still holds the world's largest Earhart collection (close to 5,000 items).

Robinson's Equine Therapy and Riding is a family-owned, volunteer-run nonprofit (501(c)(3)) located on a farm at 8762 E 100 N in Lafayette, IN.

They offer adaptive horseback riding experiences for people of all ages and abilities, with a particular focus on children and individuals with physical, developmental, or emotional challenges.

The idea is to build confidence, connection, and personal growth through time spent with horses. Sessions run in an indoor arena, so riders can participate through most of the year, and each session is supported by trained volunteers and gentle horses.
