Good morning, Lafayette.

I’m not feeling 100% today, so this will be short. If I’ve made any grammatical errors in here, please bear with me.

Hope to see everyone at the Dinner Club on Wednesday (if this sickness will leave me alone)!

In today’s issue:

  • A place of meats

  • Local trivia

  • A dog looking for a home

  • Every 2000s kid dream home

  • The events for the week

This Old Butcher Shoppe

I go back a little ways with This Old Farm and have really enjoyed my experiences with both This Old Farm and This Old Butcher Shoppe. I used to work with the animals from both The Farm at Prophetstown and Hunt Bros Herefords and both places worked with This Old Farm (There’s a lot of lore there that might be worth writing about someday. I met some amazing local people through those experiences).

Back to This Old Butcher Shoppe. If you’re a meat consumer, you have to try this place out! You know how most store-bought pork is white in color? The pork at This Old Butcher Shoppe looks more like red meat. Why? These animals were all raised differently.

Ask the butcher where the meats on the counter come from and how the animals were raised. They will know. You won’t find that at the majority of stores. Not only are the people knowledgeable there, but they’ve always been really warm and welcoming to me.

Should I write about my time at The Farm at Prophetstown and Hunt Bros Herefords?

(And all of the cool people I met during that time)

Meet Kingston

The resilient, toy-loving 7-year-old who came to HS4GL on 10/14 and has been stealing hearts ever since.

This handsome guy lives for yard time. He’ll happily run around on his three legs (he came in with an injured leg that unfortunately had to be amputated, but he has adjusted incredibly well!) and absolutely lights up when you throw toys for him. Fetch? Yes please. Snow? Even better. Pets? His favorite.

Kingston loves toys, loves attention, and loves being part of whatever you’re doing. He’s dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and possibly potty trained. All this sweet man really wants is a loving home where he can play, get lots of pets, and be part of the family.

If you’re looking for a loyal, playful companion with a huge heart and an even bigger personality, Kingston might just be your guy.

Every 2000s Kid Dream Home

If you've ever thought to yourself, "You know what I need? A home with a saltwater pool, a theater room, an outdoor bar, a game room, a stone fireplace, and an exercise room.” You’re (probably) not alone. And, 3925 Alex Ct on Lafayette's east side would like a word with you.

If you've ever wanted to host literally any kind of event, then this is your place. Think of all the birthday parties, movie nights, holidays, neighborhood cookouts, and possibly even small triathlons you could have.

If you really think about it, $650,000 is a bargain when you factor all of this in.
