In Tuesday’s Edition

Happy Tuesday, Lafayette!

It’s a new week with plenty to do around town. Whether you're looking to support a local spot you've been meaning to try or discover something completely new, we've got you covered. Grab your coffee and let's see what Lafayette has cooking this week.

In this edition we’ll cover:

  • One thing to leave the house for

  • One restaurant (coffee shop☕️) to try

  • Purdue Men’s and Women’s Basketball upcoming games

  • One piece of important local news

  • Weather outlook for the week

  • Events in the area

I’ve got a quick story to share before we dive in!

Last week, I had the daunting task of buying a new (to me) vehicle. I don’t know about you, but I HATE going to car dealerships when it’s time to look for a vehicle. I’ve had some really bad experiences in the past, so I was not looking forward to last week at all.

Thankfully, I had a great experience! I bought my vehicle through Defouw Chevrolet in Lafayette and worked with Sheila Passmore. They didn’t pay me to say anything and I’m not sure if anyone from Defouw will even read this, but they really did make things easy. Sheila has been in automative sales for over 20 years and made everything seamless. Most of all, I could tell that she cared about me.

Anyway, if you’re in the market for a vehicle, Defouw might not be a bad place to start. I was happy to do business with them.

One Thing to Leave the House For

Visit Prophetstown State Park

Need a reset? Prophetstown State Park is calling your name. There's something special about the park in winter. Fewer crowds, crisp air, and that quiet beauty you just don't get in warmer months. Take a walk along paved paths, spot some winter birds, or just breathe in some fresh air. It's exactly the kind of low-key adventure that reminds you why living here is pretty great. Admission is free in the offseason.

Where? 5545 Swisher Rd, West Lafayette, IN 47906

When? Open daily from 7 am to 11 pm

One Restaurant (Coffee Shop☕️) to Try

Fuel

Need a midweek pick-me-up? Fuel Coffee is the kind of spot where you actually want to stay awhile. I grabbed coffee with a friend there recently and easily spent over an hour there. It’s a great place for that kind of thing.

One Piece of Important Local News

New Indiana Laws Taking Effect in 2026

Several new Indiana laws kicked in this year that locals should know about. Homeowners will see property tax relief through a new credit, either $300 or 10% off their homestead property tax bill (whichever is lower). The state income tax also drops slightly from 3% to 2.95%
